Philip Gordon, MD, FRCS, FACS, is a Professor of Surgery, Director of the Section of Colorectal Surgery and Professor of Oncology for McGill University in Montreal, Canada. He also serves as Vice Chairman, Senior Surgeon, and Director of Clinical Teaching at the Sir Mortimer B. Davis Hospital in Montreal, Canada.
Dr. Gordon is a past president of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. His memberships include the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Canadian Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. He has also been a board member of the National Cancer Institute Canada (NCIC), the National Surgical Adjuvant Breast and Bowel Project, and the Nutritional Review Forum for Inflammatory Bowel Disease.
Dr. Gordon has conducted presentations at many universities and medical conferences, including the Colon and Rectal Symposium at the University of Minnesota, the New England Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons. He has spoken on medical and surgical issues for media interviews on CBC TV, CFCF-CTV and CJAD Radio in Canada.
In addition, he has authored or co-authored almost 100 medical articles and published chapters in more than 30 medical textbooks, including the gold-standard textbook, Principles and Practice of Surgery for the Colon, Rectum and Anus.
Dr. Gordon earned his M.D. from the University of Saskatchewan in Canada and completed his internship and residencies in surgery and pathology at the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. He complete is colorectal fellowship at the University of Minnesota.
