Robert D Fry, MD, is Professor of Surgery and Chief, Division of Colon and Rectal Surgery, at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia.
Dr. Fry is president of the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons. His additional memberships include the American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery, the American College of Surgeons, the American Gastroenterological Association, the Society of Surgical Oncology, the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract, the International Society of University Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American Board of Surgery, and the American Surgical Association.
His past honors and awards include Good Housekeeping's "Top 318 Cancer Doctors for Women," American Health's "Best Doctors in America," Castle Connoly Medical Ltd's "America's Top Doctors," and Oklahoma City University's Distinguished Alumni Award.
Dr. Fry has served as a member of the Editorial Advisory Board of Perspectives in Colon and Rectal Surgery and he has authored or co-authored nearly 40 books or book chapters and nearly 90 papers. In addition, Dr. Fry has conducted presentations at many hospitals, universities, and medical conferences, including the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, the American College of Surgeons, and the Southern Medical Association.
After graduating from Oklahoma City University, Dr. Fry earned his medical degree from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, where he was president of Nu Sigma Nu Medical Fraternity, and completed his internship in surgery at the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis. He served as Chief Resident in Surgery at the Jewish Hospital of St. Louis and Resident in Colon and Rectal Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.
