A) 100 Anorectal Cases
B) 200 Abdominal Cases
C) 250 Endoscopic Evaluations
D) 80-100 Laparoscopic Cases
Strengths of program: Tremendous balance of operative volume in all core areas of colorectal surgery and dedicated clinic time, high volume laparoscopy (including rectal cancer and pelvic dissections), no nightly or weekend call, junior resident staff on service, numerous optional research opportunities.
Clinic or office experience: 1-1.5 days/week (mandatory)
Interaction with general surgery residents: Surgery residents on service but no competition with chief resident for cases. Two separate services.
Conferences: Colorectal Journal Club, Tumor Board, IBD Conference, Didactic Colorectal Conference, M & M.
Anorectal physiology availability: Yes
Outside rotations: None
Research year: Optional
Requirement for paper: Not mandatory but encouraged.
Opportunity to attend meetings: ASCRS, ISLS and any meeting where research is accepted.
