Case mix / number of cases: Abdominal procedures - 200, Anal Rectal - 250, Colonoscopies - 325.

Strengths of program: No competition with general surgical residency. Laparoscopic colon surgery experience available. Extensive exposure to office practice of colorectal surgery.

Clinic or office experience: Attends private office hours with staff 1 or 2 days/week.

Conferences: Journal Club; Pathology and Radiology Conferences; Anorectal Physiology Conference; Surgical Grand Rounds, Chesapeake Colorectal Society Meetings and Maryland Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Meetings.

Anorectal physiology availability: Anorectal physiology lab and rectal ultrasound are available and utilized by resident.

Outside rotations: Cleveland Clinic (2 weeks).

Research year: None

Requirement for paper: Resident is required to prepare one paper for publication and one lecture for presentation.

Opportunity to attend meetings: The resident's attendance at the annual ASCRS meeting, and regional meetings are funded by the hospital.
