Case mix / number of cases: Approximately (done by fellow): 250+ colonoscopic procedures; 250+ abdominal surgical procedures (including IPAA), 60+ laparoscopic cases; and 200 anorectal cases.

Strengths of program: There is strong and varied operative experience, colon cancer, IBD, laproscopic colon surgery with active office experience, transrectal ultrasound, anal anorectal physiology.

Clinic or office experience: Includes active resident run clinic and office experience daily with faculty.

Interaction with general surgery residents: General surgery junior residents rotate on the colon and rectal service continually along with private PA.

Conferences: Include monthly didactic conference and separate M&M, weekly combined GI-colon and rectal surgery conference, and weekly pathology conference, research meetings with support of research nurse clinician.

Anorectal physiology availability: There is an active clinical anorectal physiology lab held weekly with the faculty. Additional experience with Endo-rectal ultrasound occurs in conjunction with the lab.

Outside rotations: None are offered.

Research year: None available.

Requirement for paper: A scientific paper is required for completion of the program.

Opportunity to attend meetings: The resident attends the annual ASCRS meeting and regional society meetings at the Program's expense.
