CREST® Weekly - VTE Prophyllaxis | ASCRS

This CREST® module provides an overview of the current data, general recommendations, and controversies regarding prophylaxis for post-operative VTE in colorectal surgery patients.


Upon completion of this module participants should be able to:

  1. Discuss the incidence and risk factors of post-operative VTE, particularly in colorectal surgery patients.
  2. Define the general impact of VTE and the post-thrombotic syndrome.
  3. Describe the overall current recommendations for VTE prophylaxis in colorectal surgery patients.
  4. Explain the current controversies involving extended VTE prophylaxis, including in IBD patients.

As a Weekly Curriculum module, it is eligible for 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™.
