The American College of Surgeons (ACS) is working with the Harvard Business School in a new program entitled transforming health care resources to increase value and efficiency (ACS THRIVE). Members of ASCRS who want more information or would like to participate in this program should contact the ACS.

Surprise medical billing is currently a very hot topic on Capitol Hill. Education of representatives in Congress remains important to inform the writing of the final bill.

The CMS proposed rule for 2020 includes significant changes in the definitions and RVU values of the new and established patient E&M codes. As proposed, these changes will take place starting in 2021 and will increase the values for most office/outpatient E/Ms, but these increases will not apply to global surgery codes.
