Careers in Colon and Rectal Surgery

Colon and rectal surgery is limited enough in scope to allow a surgeon to be a specialist and broad enough to keep one stimulated with its variety of procedures and patients. It also offers an acceptable life style. Colon and rectal surgeons deal with relatively few emergency problems and perform most of their work during daylight hours.

The ASCRS brochure Why You Should Consider a Career in Colorectal Surgery provides more information. We hope that, in making your ultimate career decision, you will consider colon and rectal surgery.

Colon and Rectal Residency Training Programs

When contemplating a career in colon and rectal surgery, please take the time to review our listing of residency training programs.  There are many great programs out there to help you be successful with your career goals.

Core Subjects Update

The Core Subjects Update at each Annual Scientific Meeting gives a basic overview of specialty content.
